Hi ya’ll! I’ve been reminiscing my memories from a year ago. I was on the road headed up to Connecticut around this time last year. Wow!
I’ve made two or three short lists over the last month of things going on in my life, but never had a moment to compose a blog to tell you about it! And now some of it doesn’t seem so important. :-)
We enjoyed a visit from Cynthia and Glen about a month ago! Had a great time showing them around Boston and the subase. In Boston, we went to see the USS Constitution! Pretty cool!
I got to see Thor with a handful of my Navy buddies. There was a line in there just in passing that I noted… something about a woman making him weak. (Actually, Dad’s sermon today relates to this!) I started thinking about how women have the “power” to make men strong or weak, and I hope I am the type that makes men strong! Encouraging and challenging and helping...
We had a good week of birthdays and Mother’s Day. Work at the flower shop was busy of course.
A friend who’s name is Timothy challenged me to read 1st and 2nd Timothy last month, so I did! Read them each straight through, then wrote a little outline or summary of the points that I particularly noticed in each book. It was good. Also got started reading a Proverb a day, but got a little distracted…
Oh yeah! The Singles Retreat. Well, it was singles, yes, and there were maybe 30 of us. But the age span was from 19 (my friend Coleen) up to maybe 80? A little disappointing in that respect, but we had a great time anyway, just relaxing and getting out of town and turning off the phone!
I am in Joy’s wedding in August! I have missed five or six weddings already this year, and I don’t know how many friends have had babies! It’s crazy! Anyway, I’m planning to get my stuff loaded up in a trailer for Dad to pull back behind his pickup on the way home. (hint hint! Anyone in Searcy available August 8th or 9th, I want to see you!!!)
There is a road that goes around part of the base that the guys have to run for PT, so I’ve convinced some of them to walk it with me a few times! It’s a good workout, and fun to spend time with them. :-D Once we walked the actual whole perimeter of the base, and it took an hour and a half!
It’s warming up here in the North East! I think we got close to 90 degrees one day in the last few weeks! I was pretty excited to be able to go out in shorts! I can laugh at the New Englanders now that I’ve stopped shivering!
Today we enjoyed a great Father’s Day. Since I have to work in the afternoon, we grilled out steaks for supper, and a few guys came over with meat and other sides to enjoy with us. Perfect weather, and a good time was had by all.
I went to a public high school graduation that a few friends were in. That was an interesting experience! My first public school event in years! I didn’t realize till later that they didn’t pray once. After I got home, there was a fantastic clap of thunder!!!! It sounded like a cannon was fired a couple times, and the house shook!
Still looking for a full-time job. Want an apartment on my own, but now my car is in a coma… It needs a starter, but my car is being difficult so my mechanically inclined friends can't do it for me. And they tried worked hard on it for hours! (Thanks Chris and Cecil!) Sad day. Grrr money.
God bless you all, my dear friends and family. I look forward to seeing many of you in August!
You didn't mention you (and your helpers) cook for about 50 people on Wednesday nights--maybe you did in earlier blogs. I'm always impressed by that! Love you, mom
ReplyDeleteYOU'RE GOING TO BE IN SEARCY FOR MY BIRTHDAY?!?!?!!? How did this not come up in conversation before now. *happy day* Can't wait for August. :)
ReplyDeleteLove you, seester
True that, Mom. I have some fantastic helpers! Good times. :-) Even if they keep leaving me when the Navy tells them to go to other parts of the world :-(
ReplyDeleteCynthia. Yes! We need to talk...
You'll be in Searcy, when my mom's here! Oh I'm so happy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've really thrown yourself into things full bore up there. Thats awesome. Not gonna lie, I kind of laughed when I read that the singles retreat included women up to 80! haha. But then I stopped to think about it and depending on what you were specifically want to see happen there, that could be very good. The Bible is pretty clear that the older more experienced people need to be sowing into the lives of the younger ones. Multi-generational gatherings have the potential to be much more impacting and have much more depth than an isolated peer group could ever have on its own. Good times. God bless. -Bryan
